For the last couple of years, rock fans have descended on Prestwich for a massive free festival featuring tributes to all our favourite rock bands and now it’s Bolton’s turn. Yes folks, hot on the heels of Festwich comes Boltfest. No, they haven’t copied Festwich, the organisers of Festwich have decided to branch out a little and get Boltonians in on the action too.

It’s still free (well you have to pay a booking fee but it’s miniscule so it may as well be) and takes place in Queens Park, Bolton, on the May Bank Holiday weekend (23rd and 24th May). Genius move because most will be off to nurse those hangovers/aching bodies on the Monday, hurrah!

So what about the line up then? With tributes to the likes of guns n roses, foo fighters, pantera, the doors, white stripes and U2 to name a few it’s not too shabby at all! There’s definitely something for everyone with grunge, psychaedelia, metal and good old classic rock fans catered for. There’s even something for the new breed with a Royal Blood tribute.

What about original acts I hear you say, well that's catered for too. Playing over the weekend will be some of our favourite bands including sky valley mistress and sinergod.

As many of our team have a young family we also love the family friendliness of these events which are laid back with plenty of things to keep young ones entertained. This could also be the chance to introduce them to a festival experience and set up the next gen of rock and metal fan.

There are no tickets available on the gate for this so it’s better to be safe than sorry and get your hands on tickets early doors. A combination of the bank holiday and this three month heat wave we’ve been promised means it’s going to be a busy one! Get your hands on tickets and find out more about Boltfest at their website
