Iced Out

These Durham lads are a new entity for me but they have totally got me hooked with this three track EP. They have produced some of the heaviest riffs I’ve heard in a long time. Not just that though, the song structures are of the highest standard. My ears haven’t been deafened like this for many moons. Happy days.

For The Coven is deep and bruising. The fucking most deepest sludgy riffs on this planet which make the Earth vibrate to its core start this track. Backed up by vocals from Hell, drums and bass from Purgatory you know what you are in for. Brain meltdown! On the title track, the riff tempo increases which produces the most mind numbing noise you have ever heard, aggressive vocals blending with the riffs making this the best doom, sludge music out there in my opinion. It’s like being dragged through the swamp with a Crocodile snapping at your arse. Space Mountain meanwhile, has more massive grinding riffs which drive this short noise-fest at a pace, vocals call the devil to devour the Earth, which all together reduces your brain to a pile of rotting flesh. I want more.

No messing about with these guys and the review. Short and to the point, 11 minutes of mind blowing riff metal heaven. This EP hooked me from the first play. Don’t think it’s just mind numbing noise, it is three tracks of pure absorbing music of power and craft. If these guys can put together a full length album of this quality it could be a contender for album of the year. This is definitely in the running for EP of the year for me. Released on the cool record label Witch Hunter Records they have to get a massive thanks for releasing this little gem.

Is it an earthquake? No it’s Iced Out!
