5ft Fez - 5ft Fez
5ft Fez were originally set up in 2007 when the lads were aged 8, 9 and 10! Two of the members of the band are the sons from another local band, 10Ft Fez, (hence the name) and after a couple of years of taking a break they’re now back playing in the pubs and clubs.
Up to now they have been singing mostly covers from various genres including mod, ska, and indie. If you’ve ever seen 5ft Fez live you'll know they can certainly hold their own when singing the tracks made famous before they were even thought of. The boys play well together and seem to cross several musical genres with ease and with that and their youthful good looks and charm the younger girls will love them and the older 'girls' will want to cook them a good meal.
It can be hard for a band known for covers to make the transition to their own material but these young lads seem to have done this effortlessly and have found their own sound, and it's a good one. The three tracks from the EP are well performed and well written with a strong indie feel, especially on the track Watch Me Fall with Matt Cummings’ lead vocals sounding similar to a young Ian Brown.
Control and Find Me are well written both lyrically and musically, showing promise of more to come in the future. Find Me certainly gives a teenage angst vibe and the lyrics to all three songs on the EP belie the young age of these guys. These lads certainly seem to know what they want to sound like and where they want to go musically and if they carry on with the same quality of song writing skill shown in this EP who can say where they will end up!
