Highlighting a local band who deserve your attention every week
Void strike the perfect balance between progressive and stoner in a Jekyll and Hyde type contradiction. Half of their personality wants to bathe in a whirl of psychadelia, while the other side is more musically complex and feral. Charlie Powell’s cinematic and keyboards and Rob Wellock’s frantic, razor-sharp drumming underpin a powerful twin guitar attack alongside Keenan Judge’s vocal deliveries which are both gravel-toned and cleanly executed and always sound massive.
Think the epicness of Dream Theater, the dirge of Black Sabbath and Intronaut and the shadowy tones and moodiness of Type O Negative and you get start to get the picture. There are also hints of Mastodon, Kyuss and more scattered across their songs. They have plenty of diversity and imagination in their ranks.
The band have just released two new tracks, Megalochong and Dive Me Into The Void, which you can hear below.
