The God Complex Give Us A Bitter Taste
The Manchester band, The God Complex, have released a preview of their forthcoming EP
Biting guitars just the right side of distressed and backed by a groove guaranteed to get even your granma moving – or is that her Parkinson’s playing up again? – The God Complex has released the first track from their forthcoming EP The Death Harmonic.
Recorded at SSR Studios in Ardwick by Callum Bate, From A Bitter Taste To a Sweeter Place marries grungy, dingy gutiars with staunch rhythms and Tom Guyer’s high octane vocals. It’s all a bit messy, unclean and savage and all the better for it. There’s a high level of energy to the song, played with angst and nastiness before dropping into a down tempo doom dirge in the bridge. It opens space – albeit temporarily – for Connor Dowd’s drums to stretch out before some melodically intuitive vocals take the foray.
The track ushers a great degree of promise for the Manchester band’s EP proper.
