Ruby Tingle Interview
ManchesterRocks took a few minutes to interview Ruby Tingle after her excellent set opening the evening for Love Gravel’s EP launch gig. Ruby is a Manchester based artist working with collage, music and performance. She describes herself as Ambiguous and extraordinary visual works married with murky experimental pop:
For me, the influences that I picked up from your performance were people like Amanda Palmer, was that perceptive of me or have I gone off at a tangent and got it completely wrong?
Definitely when I was younger I used to listen to a lot of Dresden Dolls things like that when I was a teenager, but now it's people like Kate Bush and I listen to a lot of 50’s music and classical and all sorts really.
Do you have any more gigs coming up as I'd like to catch a full set of yours?
I don't have a gig as such but I am doing an art performance in London at something called Sluice Art Fair, it's a musical because I've written the score for it and it's going to have music accompanying it.
What about recent releases?
I've just released an EP called The Shanties which can be bought and downloaded on Bandcamp.
Ruby also does some excellent artwork some of which is used on the covers for her recordings and they can be viewed on her website at:
