Tim Scott Brings On The Night
Stockport based guitarist Tim Scott has released a new song, Bring On The Night.
The master guitarist, whose style has been likened to Joe Satriani, Brian May and Jeff Beck but with a modern Balearic twist which is a technique called Guitar Mashing. He initially wrote the song as a pitch for a Miller Lite beer advertisement. As Tim explains:
I only had five days to write, arrange, record, produce, mix and master a 2-3 minute instrumental piece that had to have a contemporary uplifting feel. They were waving around a reputed $125,000 (£80,000) exclusivity contract for the winning composition. I have to admit, that I didn’t sleep much over the ensuing few days… determined to win the contract.
I had such a gut feeling about this piece [so] I pulled it from the running believing I was worth more. When six weeks later, I heard the rubbish they picked to put on TV, I was convinced I’d been better off out of it.
Sometimes you have to stand back and realise that these things happen for a reason and not wanting to lose the benefit of what I had created. A few months later, I took the tune back in to the studio and re-made it into a song called ‘Bring On The Night’; which features my own singing!
Tim wrote the lyrics in a night club after a few drinks whilst reflecting on escapism as well as his experiences of playing in Ibiza.
There is already quite a buzz about this new single which is all very exciting for Tim and hopefully will project him further in his career. Look out for gigs in the Manchester area too, he is often out playing.
