Brian Fallon @ O2 Ritz - Live Review

Kicking off the British leg of their tour: Jared Hart, Good Old War and Brian Fallon & The Crowes arrive at Manchester's O2 Ritz. The first act on the bill is Jared Hart, one mans voice and a guitar projected through the Ritz has a comfortable and organic feel, his setlist mostly encoparated tracks from his most recent album Past Lives & Past Lines.  Thrown in with the mix was a cover of the iconic song A New England by Billy Bragg, after asking if it would be too cheesy.

Second on the bill are Philadelphian duo Good Old War, who's name was created by combining 'bits of' members Keith Goodwin and Tim Arnold's name, they fuse indie and folk resulting in a vibrant sound bursting with harmonies.  Again to see a duo which only encoparates two voices and an acoustic guitar in a venue like The O2 Ritz is refreshing and the duos talent resonated through this stripped down approach.

From the ashes of The Gaslight Anthem's indefinate hiatus, Brian Fallon has pursued his potential as a solo artist and judging by the turnout at the O2 Ritz his most recent album Painkillers is a success which undoubtedly holds up live.  Fallon and his band, The Crowes, play with a distinct mix of energy and passion which results in a captivating live show, a group of artists who are certainly not to be missed next time they tour.
