Listen To This: Downfall
Who are they:
Downfall, a techno infused metalcore band from Manchester. Brand new to the scene with everything to gain.
For fans of:
Enter Shikari, The Devil Wears Prada, Neberu
What do they sound like:
Brutal metalcore riffs mixed with techno and synths to deliver a nicely rounded and interesting package. Although nothing new at this point, Downfall to have a lot of character to their delivery and presentation. Their melodies are wonderfully slick and when it's time to bring the heavy, Downfall hit the mark. The pop style production in the metalcore mix gives them a clean sweep of a sound that’s pretty accessible to most. The chaotic rumblings and wonderful harmonic delivery make them an intriguing listen.
Taking influences from bands like Issues and Korn and only forming in recent memory they don’t have much to their name yet. The band is only just coming out of the woodwork with their debut EP Awakening. The Manchester five piece collective have hit a stride with small gigs and a growing fanbase. Although young into their metal careers they’re already showing a lot of promise. The band hope to capture attention with their take on the metalcore genre. With hard riffs and catchy choruses.
Although they have put a few things up on Facebook and Youtube already, the song that caught my ear was the EP's closing track, Truth. The song is a total rampage of metalcore sounds all the way through with the techno parts only really creeping in during the clean parts and the breakdown of the song. This tune sounds absolutely massive. Also, the eerie, downplayed clean guitar adds atmosphere and character to the song. Genuinely something that would end up in my playlist.
