Technical excellency in the vein of Northlane, Architects & Periphery
Words: Phil Weller
Manchester isn’t exactly short of technically proficient bands, but new band Manifolds venture down the oft untravelled avenues of tech metal and djent, so far as Mancunuian metal is confirmed. They do it too with a class and style belying of their freshness.
Their debut single, S.T.T.S is a fierce opening statement. Drawing from the sonic structures of Northlane, Architects and Periphery – think big sounding, aggressive music that hinges on chugs akin to a high speed steam train and a polished, melodic chorus for contrast – they capture exactly what they’ve set out to do. There’s tapping, break neck drum attacks and a bucketload of filth in this opening single and it only whets the appetite for more.
Keep your ears to the ground for these guys with live shows and more music inbound.
