Betraeus Unveil New Music Ahead of Progathon II
Manchester progressive metal act Betraeus have unveiled three new demos on their Youtube and Soundcloud pages. It comes just before they co-headline the Manchester Rocks hosted Progathon II - an event celebrating progressive music in all its forms that takes this Sunday (21st August) at Rebellion.
No Human Remains, an ethereal trip through lucid, lulling soundscapes that juxtapose their guttural, death metal flavoured crescendos, flaunts everything this band has built its admirable reputation upon. It cannons from quiet, heartfelt moment, with Chris Syke's clean vocals cutting through the mix like a hot knife through butter, and their high velocity metal clangour - which has been winning them plenty of fans this year - and, although only listed as a demo, shows what great things this band is capable of.
The Drought is a slower but ultimately deadly, grinding track iced with whirling feedback a la Ghost Reveries era Opeth, while The Sin Inside sounds at points like Baroness if they were possessed by Satan. Gravel coated and venomous, that doesn't mean it is a song without hooks, there's of plenty about this song to grab you like a murderer in the night.
