RIP Chris Tsangarides
Sad news reaches us of the death of Chris Tsangarides, a man who was important in shaping the metal scene as we know it, from pneumonia aged 61.
Tsangarides worked with many rock and metal bands in the 80's helping to define the sound of the NWOBHM. His big break came from producing the first Gary Moore album Back On The Streets. The hit single Parisiene Walkways becoming Tsangarides calling card. The list of bands he has worked with is extensive and includes: Black Sabbath, Bruce Dickinson, Ian Gillan, Gillan, Girlschool, Helloween, Judas Priest, Magnum, Mama's Boys, Ozzy Osbourne, Thin Lizzy, Tygers Of Pan Tang, UFO and Y&T.
His work wasn't restricted to just the rock/metal genre, he also worked with alternative, pop and reggae bands such as Depeche Mode, Exodus, Tom Jones and The Tragically Hip.
Amongst his most recent production credits are albums by Virgil And The Accelerators and The Amorettes.
RIP Chris Tsangarides.
