RIP Eytan Doron Wineapple
To say we are devastated to hear of the death of someone like Eytan Doron Wineapple would be an understatement – shine on you crazy diamond.
Eytan was, and will always one of the cornerstones of the Manchester metal community and will always be remembered as such from his time as a booker at Rebellion to running the Noiz Promotions gigs and the Manchester Metal Collective, his unfailing support for the underground scene was legendary.
His not so private life was oft played out for all to see on Facebook and, to be brutally honest, it was colourful. From randomly waking up one Sunday morning in a church whilst a service is in progress to sailing the high seas as the metal pirate of Manchester’s canals, to partying with nuns, randomly finding Uri Geller, to running a metal festival in a squat - nothing was beyond him.
Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
From a personal perspective I last saw him ‘rolling up’ behind Grand Central last year and he told me he was going back to Israel to get himself sorted out “and when I come back I am going to restart Noiz and it is going to be bigger than ever, trust me.” I trusted him because I knew he would do it.
Come on you boy child, you winner and loser, and shine!
Tonight, his hero Ritchie Blackmore is playing with Rainbow in Malaga. One can only hope that if there is a heaven he is able to see and hear his guitar God play one more time. Your rainbow is rising, you stargazer Eytan.
Our condolences go out to his wife and family.
RIP Eytan, you will be sorely missed by many. Hailz.
Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
