RIP Virgil Howe
Sad news reaches us once more as we hear that drummer Virgil Howe, who plays with surf/blues band Little Barrie, has died unexpectedly aged 42.
The talented London-born multi-instrumental musician and DJ was the son of Yes guitarist Steve Howe. The statement read: "Due to the tragic, unexpected death of guitarist Steve Howe's beloved younger son, Virgil, YES regrettably announces that the remaining dates of their Yestival tour have been cancelled.”
"Steve Howe and family ask for their privacy to be respected during this difficult time."
Little Barrie sprung to fame with the song "Better Call Saul" which was used as the theme for the Netflix drama of the same name.
The band had just released their fourth album, Death Express, in July this year with a tour which was supposed to set off today (12 September) with the band scheduled to play here in Manchester at The Deaf Institute on 19th September.
Virgil Howe also drummed for Future Sound Of Londons, Amorphous Androgynou, The Killer Meters and Dirty Feel as well as creating his own music and mixes: from disco and electronic through to spacefunk, his remixes taking music from one genre and twisting it around into something quite different.
RIP Virgil Howe.
