SLACKRR – NERVE: SINGLE REVIEW
Words: Anne Estella
With a headline slot at this year’s Isle Of Wight Festival, a debut EP and self-released studio album already to their name, Southampton-based melodic Punk-Pop Rockers Slackrr announce the release of a new single called Nerve, accompanied by an official music video, which went live on 9th August.
The young trio, comprising Scotty Perry on guitar and vocals, Caitlyn Bowyer on bass and vocals and Connor Gardiner on drums, may have been together less than two years, but have already toured the width and breadth of the British Isles, gaining a solid reputation on the UK’s underground Punk Rock scene - and are able to boast having sold out of their debut EP ‘I Know’ within 48 hours!
The new single, lifted from their album ‘Time, It Waits For No One’, is an explosive blast of energy that floods your ears with a bouncy, hard-hitting rhythm and angst-ridden vocals from the start. The vibe takes its inspiration most notably from US bands such as Green Day and the threesome create a rich, melodious sound through jabbing riffs, pummeling drums, a driving bassline and infectious choruses.
The sheer simplicity and intoxicating catchiness of the tune give it mass appeal and if you missed seeing them live on their recent UK Summer tour, don’t worry - they will be touring throughout September too (dates below)! Make sure you follow Slackrr on Spotify/iTunes, where they will be releasing every track from their new album individually over the coming weeks!
Scotty Perry - Guitar/Vocals
Caitlyn Bowyer - Bass/Vocals
Connor Gardiner – Drums
The self-released studio debut album ‘Time, It Waits For No One’ dropped on the 14th June 2019. Grab your copy here: https://www.slackrr.bigcartel.com
